Below is an example of storyboard which has been carried on from the making toast theme. The story board allows greater perspective of the overall process whilst giving contextual meaning.

Moodboards are used to communicate emotional and contextual aspects of the design concept. Designers use mood boards to convey the overall feel of a project, putting together images and objects which inspire creativity and innovation. Below is an example of a mood board for John.
John is a 75-year-old retired carpenter who still enjoys hikes in national parks and ridding his Harley-Davidson. He looks forward to the local club raffle and a catch up with the boys on a Thursday evening. He also enjoys playing bingo, listening to local radio and watching old western movies with his wife Jill. As he gets older and has to visit the hospital more often, he prefers quick and efficient healthcare with simple, bold instructions and hospital signs. He aims to enjoy the rest of his life traveling a little and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Location: Hobart
Toaster Usage: Unfortunately Johnny has never used a fancy new electric toaster
Computer/Internet Usage: PC, Occasionally browses the Internet with the help of his grandchildren.
Computer Skill: Novice user. Finds things too complicated on the computer to use. Has an email but doesn’t know how to use it properly.

Below is an example of a flowchart derived from step by step guide for making toast. flow charts allow you to read and understand the processes and decisions for a specific act effectively. Illustrating the process graphically organises the information in a way that allows you to see the overall process from a birds eye perspective as apposed to the step by step guide which allows the reader to see only on step at a time.
the flowchart is a good example of information design.

Writing step by step guides for users and their process of undertaking a certain action is important when trying to develop an interface or navigation system for the audience. Below is an example of how to make vegemite toast.

Web 2.0 is the term given to technologies that allow the user to interact with the site and other users, as opposed to web 1.0 which enables the user to only view sites. The term (web 2.0) was originally proposed by Tom O’Reilly as browser based applications but has further developed over time with new technology and capabilities. The emergence of web based sites that allow users a wide variety of capabilities, in communication and customisation have somewhat redefined the rules or guidelines to traditional design. Contemporary web sites (or web applications) allow applications to run on the server rather than the desktop, the result is quick and effective communication between users and devices for a large variety of online programs.

Interaction design is the process of designing interactive products to support people in their everyday and working lives. (Preece et al; 2002). Interactive Design can be applied to almost everything we do, from the moment we here our alarm in the morning the automatic response is to reach for the snooze button; the placement or accessibility of the button, the amount of pressure needed to be applied, other options such as sleep are all part of the interactive design of the object.
The goal of good interactive design is to enhance the users experience through ease of use, easy to navigate interfaces, and tools such as the mouse enable natural human motor movements to be converted to digital signals that can mimic our movement through an object, the object becomes an extension of our body and the interactive design of the object allows for the level of control we have (within the scope of the objects capabilities).

Information design is the attempt to organise information or data in a way that allows the viewer to better understand it. The designer must take complex and unstructured information and simplify it so that the viewer can efficiently and effectively interpret it. Information Design can be presented in the form of things like graphs, tables, layout, typography, graphics or illustrations.
The way in which the information is presented will depend on the type of information, the intended audience and the medium through which it is illustrated. Experience design on the other hand is arranging the information or interaction induce a specific experience.
