Interactive Design

Interaction design is the process of designing interactive products to support people in their everyday and working lives. (Preece et al; 2002). Interactive Design can be applied to almost everything we do, from the moment we here our alarm in the morning the automatic response is to reach for the snooze button; the placement or accessibility of the button, the amount of pressure needed to be applied, other options such as sleep are all part of the interactive design of the object.

The goal of good interactive design is to enhance the users experience through ease of use, easy to navigate interfaces, and tools such as the mouse enable natural human motor movements to be converted to digital signals that can mimic our movement through an object, the object becomes an extension of our body and the interactive design of the object allows for the level of control we have (within the scope of the objects capabilities).
