Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is the term given to technologies that allow the user to interact with the site and other users, as opposed to web 1.0 which enables the user to only view sites. The term (web 2.0) was originally proposed by Tom O’Reilly as browser based applications but has further developed over time with new technology and capabilities. The emergence of web based sites that allow users a wide variety of capabilities, in communication and customisation have somewhat redefined the rules or guidelines to traditional design. Contemporary web sites (or web applications) allow applications to run on the server rather than the desktop, the result is quick and effective communication between users and devices for a large variety of online programs.
